What are Giclee Prints: (pronounced `shee clay' )
This is a modern way of producing extraordinarily high quality prints in large sizes. The name` giclee’ is french and means spurt or spray alluding to the way ink jet printers work.
No screen or mechanical device is used so there is no visible dot screen pattern. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans, then printed with archival quality inks onto canvas amongst other substrates. This way of printing gives much higher colour accuracy than other means of reproduction giving the print all the tonalities and hues of the original. When printed onto canvas the texture of the canvas comes through the print to look as close to the original painting as it is possible to achieve. .jpg)
Almost all of Patricks paintings are available to order in Giclee form on stretched canvas.
This enables the prints to average 2-3ft although this varies slightly according to the size and shape of the original.
Patrick adds small touches of oil paint to the giclee prints and then varnishes them as he would with the originals to give them that extra touch of individualiy and authentisity. This makes them look even more like the original and give them that extra quality. The price of the giclee prints varies according to the size but most average between £350 - £550.
It is one of the most worthwhile and beautiful ways to own a reproduction of Patricks stunning paintings!
